Anaesthetic They burn,
Each neurone fizzes to nothing,
One by one,
Fuzzing the corners of my vision,
Wrapping a chilling cloak around my mind,
Numbing me to my existence.

I died a year ago,
And yet still my soul festers.
I was a corpse with purpose,
A carcass with reason not just to collapse,
Not just to give up and fall by the wayside.
But now that purpose ebbs away.
It has slipped from my grasp,
And have all but given up on feebly trying to catch it.

So here I sit,
Watching the world move on without me,
Watching the twilight fade to perpetual dark.

That sun will not ever rise again.
Its hope;
Its warmth;
Gone without a trace.
