Artist's Comments

So maybe I should stop making emoticons about films/characters/games ... but then maybe that's where my talent lies, I don't know.

What I do know is that this is a Fullmetal Alchemist emote starring Fullmetal himself, Edward Elric, along with Alex Luis Armstrong (whose artistic emoting technique was been passed down the armstrong family for generations).

From a more in-depth look at the emote, note that I've given Ed's hair full shading, which makes a big difference, believe me...
Also, you may note that Ed has anime-esque eyes, he is in fact the only emote I have ever done with anime eyes, and I'm quite proud of them.

Also, I will thank *CausticStock for Stone Stock 4 ([link]), which I used for the transmuted wall/rock thing.

Quite good. Armstrong is quite small compared to Ed and he could have faster punches.

I think the size thing is perspective due to ed's hair making him look bigger, which can't be helped really... in my experience, trying to make an emote larger than the standard template can make them look lop-sided.
The punches, yeah they are a tad slow, but not horribly so... there's only three frames to each unch motion, so reducing that would make the fists appear to just jump, rather than flow, and simply upping the framrate would make certain other aspects of the emote seem rushed.

Beautiful job on the hair, rock and light effects. I think the cracking looks a little too even -- like a repeated pattern more than a crazing -- but that's just nitpicking, really.

Gorgeous work, Jtcgh.

Thankies :)
The cracking I hadn't thought of that way.. I guess it was subconsious... wanting it to be all nice and aesthetic rather than something more natural looking.

Ohh, I see. There's nothing wrong with a nice stylized approach to cracking. For my taste, I would prefer a more random movement, but keep in mind also that I'm not familiar with the original game, so I'm just looking it from an external perspective.
